Normoxic Trimix

Normoxic Trimix allows divers to more safely explore at greater depths than air does. The Normoxic Trimix Diver course will allow divers to spend more time looking at the wreck or fish or concentrating on the cave instead of having to spend time in fighting narcosis. The Normoxic Trimix diver course is similar to the Technical Diver course, in that full decompression theory and dive planning concepts are taught.

Course length: 5 Days (2 days shore diving and 3 days hardboat diving)

Prerequisites

• Advanced Nitrox/Recreational Trimix Diver
• 100 logged dives, 30 deeper than 27m
• Minimum age 18 years

Qualification Limits

• Decompression diving to 60m
• Dive using any mixture of nitrox, trimix (with 21% oxygen), or oxygen or air as bottom mix or decompression mix

Equipment required

• Twinset and regulators - one regulator to have a 1.5m or 2m long hose for gas sharing
• Decompression cylinder and regulator - minimum 7ltr
• SMB and reel
• Appropriate exposure protection and all necessary diving equipment for the environment

Equipment requirements

All gases required for the course is included in the course cost and will be mixed by qualified personnel at the Lochaline Dive Centre gas station and shop. A landrover shuttle service from the gas station to the shore/ accommodation is provided.

Although you can hire some equipment for these courses it is advised that you have your own since it is better if you can complete the course in the equipment that you are actually going to use when you go diving.

Equipment required for Lochaline Dive Centre courses is as follows:

All technical diver training programs

• Exposure protection - UK - Dry Suit preferably crushed neoprene or membrane
• Twin Set - preferably with isolating manifold, or independent cylinders (except CCR course)
• 2 primary regulators - one with a 2m long hose attached (except CCR course)
• Dive Computer
• Back up depth, time and decompression information
• Fins
• Mask
• Compass
• Surface alert devise - whistle
• 2 cutting devises - preferably knife and another type
• Main torch - preferably umbilical
• Backup torch
• Main reel - approximately 50m of line
• Backup reel
• Orange SMB
• Yellow SMB
• Slate and Pencil
