Advanced Nitrox

The IANTD Advanced Nitrox Diver course is an introduction to technical diving. Covering twinsets, stages and an introduction to decompression diving and using high oxygen decompression mixes, advanced Nitrox allows you to increase the dive time you have by running past the no decompression limit. You will be trained to use up to 50% nitrox as a decompression gas, to allow you extra time over what you get as a basic nitrox diver.

Course length: 3 Days (1 day shore diving and 2 days hardboat diving)

Prerequisites

• Advanced Open Water Diver
• 15 logged dives
• Nitrox diver
• Deep diver
• Minimum age 15 years

Qualification Limits

• Decompression diving to 42m
• Maximum of 15mins decompression
• Dive using any mixture with 21% to 40% oxygen content for bottom mix
• Use of up to 50% as a decompression mix

Equipment required

• Single cylinder with twin outlet valve, or twinset and regulators
• Decompression cylinder and regulator
• SMB and reel
• Appropriate exposure protection and all necessary diving equipment for the environment

Equipment requirements

All gases required for the course are included in the course cost and will be mixed by qualified personnel at the Lochaline Dive Centre gas station and shop. A Land Rover shuttle service from the gas station to the shore/ accommodation is provided.

Although you can hire some equipment for these courses it is advised that you have your own since it is better if you can complete the course in the equipment that you are actually going to use when you go diving.

• Exposure protection - UK - Dry Suit, preferably crushed neoprene or membrane
• Twinset - preferably with isolating manifold, or independent cylinders (except CCR course)
• 2 primary regulators - one with a 2m long hose attached (except CCR course)
• Dive Computer
• Back up depth, time and decompression information
• Fins
• Mask
• Compass
• Surface alert device - whistle
• 2 cutting devices - preferably knife and another type
• Main torch - preferably umbilical
• Backup torch
• Main reel - approximately 50m of line
• Backup reel
• Orange SMB
• Yellow SMB
• Slate and Pencil
