There are a whole range of dive sites available for divers who charter Sound Diver, including scenic wall dives, drift and scallop dives and of course wreck dives. Sites commonly visited in the Sound of Mull itself include the wrecks of the Rondo, Thesis, the Swan (formally Designated Historic Wreck at Duart Castle),the Shuna, John Preston and the Hispania; the scenic wall dives at Calve Island, Auliston Point, Pennygowan Quarry and Ardtornish; and the drift dives at Grey Rocks. The dive charter vessel is also in range of the wrecks of the Breda in Ardmucknish Bay near Oban, the Meldon in Loch Buie and also the Tapti (Tiree), Aurania, and Nevada II (north west of Mull). Sound Diver can also make trips to Bo Fascadale north of the Ardnamurchan Peninsula, into Loch Sunart and also down to the Garvellachs*.
Skipper & Crew
Sound Diver is always operated with a qualified skipper . The boat is fully coded to Category 2, licensed to carry 12 divers and 2 crew, insured, and can operate up to 60 miles from a safe haven. Always carry oxygen and a first aid kit.
Sound Diver is a large 12.5m Offshore 125 nearly 5m in the beam, powered by twin 350hp Caterpillar engines. Sound Diver has an onboard three-phase electric compressor with a Triplex filter system, powered by a quiet 9Kva diesel generator. Sound Diver has a very large deck area and deep seated benches purpose built for divers. . There is plenty of comfortable seating in the wheelhouse.
*Depending on the current price of fuel, a fuel surcharge may be applied for boat trips that are made outside the Sound of Mull (for example the Tapti, Bo Fascadale or Garvellachs).
