Project Samphire Comes to Lochaline Dive Centre

This May Project Samphire will be coming to Lochaline Dive Centre as they conduct their local community outreach and engagement throughout Scotland.

The aim of the project is to identify previously unrecorded marine archaeological sites. One area that is particularly of interest is the Sound of Mull. The marine archaeologists and divers involved with the project are aiming to locate, dive and survey some unrecorded wreck sites in the Sound!

Samphire will be holding a talk as part of their outreach process here at Lochaline Dive Centre, and are enthusiastic about working with volunteers to collect any information on possible sites, including divers who would be interested in diving and helping to ground-truth some unrecorded wreck sites.

Everyone is welcome to come along and attend the discussion, whether you have some information on any possible sites of archaeological interest, you’re a diver who wants to get involved, or just want to come along and learn about the interesting work the project is carrying out.

Dates will be confirmed soon.

Cannon being investigated in Scallastle Bay.
