Ever wanted to explore the amazing marine environment of the Scottish Highlands? How about getting up close with basking sharks and dolphins in their natural environment? Snorkelling is great way to experience the underwater world and all it has to offer in a fun and safe way.
Lochaline Dive Centre is now offering snorkelling trips and training to all ages, so now the whole family can dive in and have their own marine adventure.
This Summer Lochaline Dive Centre will be running Snorkel Safaris in and around the Sound of Mull, an area renowned for its striking scenery and wildlife above and below water. The Snorkel Safaris will offer the chance for adults and children to sample the incredible marine wildlife we have in Scotland, as well as take in the incredible vistas of the Scottish Highlands from a unique perspective. Guided Snorkel Safaris for qualified snorkelers will cost £50 and take place throughout June, July and August this year.
If you’ve never snorkelled before or want to develop your skills, Lochaline Dive Centre are also offering 1:1 Snorkel Experience courses with a BSAC Snorkel Instructor in the sheltered, open water of the Sound of Mull. The course is £30 for two hours, covering technique, theory and safety. All equipment is provided.
In conjunction with the new snorkel trips, from May 2nd 2014 Lochaline Dive Centre will be running the British Sub Aqua Club (BSAC) Dolphin Snorkeler and Snorkel Diver training courses at Fort William Leisure Centre. Each course introduces snorkelling in a series of seven progressive sessions, covering technique, theory and safety in the water. Both courses end with an assessment and successful candidates will qualify as a BSAC Dolphin Snorkeler or Snorkel Diver. BSAC Dolphin Snorkeler is aimed at ages 8-12 and BSAC Snorkel Diver is aimed at age 12 and upwards.
The course will run for seven weeks, finishing on June 20th 2014, just in time for all newly qualified snorkelers to come along on a series of open water Snorkel Safaris off Lochaline Beach, where their new skills can be honed with our BSAC guides and instructors. The seven week course costs £175, which includes equipment, pool hire, and BSAC membership. After completing the course each participant will also get one free entry to one of Lochaline Dive Centre’s Snorkel Safaris this Summer.
