New Targets for old divers

Back in 2006 Mark and Annie and some buddies did a side scan survey in the Sound of Mull.  Looking back through the data we have found some interesting looking targets which need to be ground-truthed by some keen divers.  This will entail working out the layback and offset of the target as the Side Scan fish is following the boat at some distance and then offset. This  is worked out using Pythagoras ( knew it would come in handy) and some complicated trigonometry equations just to add a bit of fun- then there is the depth to consider of the seabed and then the height of the target off the seabed.  We will need a stiff drink after all that maths.

An example of the type of thing we need to look at is below- Any guesses?  More to follow…..
